A selection of my commissions
(feel free to click on each large image for more information)
The act of commissioning a portrait is really enjoyable. You will see your art develop from marks on the paper to the final piece. I am happy to discuss any projects you have in mind, sports drawings, portraits or pet portraits - the more challenging the better!
Original art is an elegant edition to any home, particularly if the subject is a loved one or a special moment in your lives.
My commission pricing structure has recently changed for 2017. To offer clarification I will be basing my commissions on a price per square inch of £1.50 across all my commissions.
For example, my standard size is 13 x 9 inches (image size) this will work out as a cost of £175 (plus postage). This is for a piece completed in graphite pencil, pastel or charcoal or oils. The artwork is then mounted in a white acid free mount with backing board and sealed in a protective polypropylene sleeve. The finished piece will require a frame that is 16 x 12" This size is usually large enough for one person or animal. For oil paintings I paint to the edge of the board or canvas, this will then be the size needed for a frame. Please note that oil paintings will require drying time of 1 -2 weeks, they can be varnished in a few months time if you wish.
If the subject / subjects require a larger piece (for example a group drawing or double portrait) then I will advise you how much larger I need to go to comfortably draw your request. Don't hesitate to contact me if you wish to discuss your project.
For charcoal portraits visit my portraits page in the Commissions section of my shop for further details.
To begin, you can contact me to express an initial interest via my contact form - replies are usually within the same day, or click on the 'message us' button on this page which sends me a facebook message - replies are normally the same day. We can then discuss your commission, exchanging ideas and photographs. All I would need is a good quality digital photograph that shows true colour details, including hair / fur and eye colour. A non-refundable deposit of £25 is required before work is commenced. As work progresses I will keep you updated via email, full payment is only required once you are satisfied with the final image.
All artwork is shipped flat in an all board envelope protected with Corri-Cor mountboard. I do not include a frame with commissions as generally customers prefer to select their own frames to match their homes. However, if you need help with framing I can arrange it for you, this will incur additional costs of between £20-£40 depending on your preferred style of frame. If you are in the local Alsager (Cheshire area) I can recommend a local framer www.gedmitchell.co.uk. Please note that for pastel or charcoal the artwork will need to be framed behind glass not plastic glass - this is because the static from the plastic glass can draw off some of the pastel / charcoal dust. Feel free to browse through a selection of my commissions above and I look forward to hearing from you....

"Dear Paulette, I received my birthday present from my husband yesterday. a beautiful drawing of our lovely Milly. I just wanted to send you a note of thanks as its a great picture and fabulously captures her expression, she looks like she is planning some mischief - which she often does. Again, my thanks"
